Transitioning to the New KODE Graphics Tool

Transitioning to the New KODE Graphics Tool

The graphic you are viewing was created using KODE’s old Graphics Tool. This tool will soon be retired and will no longer be supported in KODE OS.

Why the Change?

In 2024, we introduced a new Graphics Tool with significant improvements and features, making it faster and easier to create graphics.

For more details on how the new Graphics Tool works, refer to this article.

What Should You Do with Existing Graphics?

Since the new tool is built separately from the old one, existing graphics need to be migrated. We’ve made this process simple with a Migration feature that lets you move your graphics to the new tool with just one click.

Once migrated, your graphic will open in the new tool, where you can edit it with all the new features.

How to Migrate Graphics

Before You Begin

Make sure you have access to the new Graphics Tool in your environment:

  1. Go to Launchpad → Apps → KODE OS → Graphics V2.

  2. Ensure your role and permissions are enabled.

For Floorplans

  1. In the Area Details, click the 3 dots icon on the widget, then select Migrate.

  2. Wait for the migration process to complete.

  3. Check that sizing, Smart Markers, and other data in the graphic are correct.

  4. Click Save.

  5. The migrated graphic will appear at the bottom of the Area Details, below the old graphic.

  6. Go to Arrange Widgets in Area Details, delete the old graphic widget, and resize the new one to fit properly.

Most migrations will complete without any issues. However, if you notice problems such as incorrect sizing or missing Smart Markers, adjust these manually.

For Systems

  1. In the System Details page, click Migrate on the top-right corner of the widget. (The widget will only appear if you have access to the new Graphics Tool.)

  2. Wait for the migration process to complete.

  3. Verify that sizing, Smart Markers, and other data in the graphic are correct.

  4. Click Save.

  5. In the System Details page, use the view modes at the bottom-right to toggle between the Old Graphic, New Graphic, and Dashboard View. The new graphic will display when you select New Graphic.

As with floorplans, most migrations will be seamless, but any issues with sizing or markers should be resolved manually.

For Devices

The best approach for device graphics is to create a graphic template in the new tool and apply it to similar devices.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to enjoy the full benefits of the new Graphics Tool with minimal disruption.
