Templating aims to make naming historical data consistently easy throughout your building or portfolio, and there are a few ways to set up templating.
To template a single device, navigate to the "Devices" section on the right-side dashboard.
Locate a device that hasn't been templated yet. Click on the device, where you'll observe that all points are currently categorized under "Others", and their names lack normalization. To initiate templating, access the device details via the right-hand navigation bar. Within the report's icon, proceed to Reports, select the Ontology, and click "Go to Point Template".
After choosing the VAV template for a device, clicking on AHU will show various ontology groups and their corresponding template items. These items, specific to different ontology groups, have descriptions. Within each ontology group, there is a "Settings" button where you can adjust the display name, unit, precision, and duplicate items if needed.
Let's template one of these points, for example, "Return Air Temp" Instead of navigating through all the ontology groups, the most efficient method is to search for the template item directly. Simply search for "Return Air Temp" and you'll see that some groups are highlighted while others are in gray, indicating they do not include a return point.
Upon searching for "Return Air Temp" you'll notice that the "Air Temperature Control" group is highlighted. Now, proceed to template the "Return Air Temp" point within this highlighted group.
Just type what you're looking for, like "setpoints" or "air flow," and drop the point into the matching box.
On the right menu, click on the three dots for more choices. Three Options Available:
Sorting By: Sort points by occurrence, name, unit, kind, or writability.
Select Multi: Pick multiple points at once for efficient actions.
Delete: Remove unwanted points. Multi-select or delete all at once.
After finishing all necessary tasks, proceed to the “Ontology Report” section. Click on "Save" to template your device.
Navigate to a building of your choice through the Sites feature in the left navigation bar
Click on Devices and the list of devices of that building will show up.
Click on the three dots button on the top right corner and select the Devices - Batch Update option.
On the page that opens up select the Points - Apply Template on the top right.
Let's say I choose multiple devices like AHU 1, 2, and 3. Now, go to "Point to Apply Template" and the steps are the same here. Choose the template type. The only difference is that the number of points might be higher. You can still search the same way, find the template items, and drag the points into the relevant template items.
After that, follow the same procedure to save the ontology. Click on "Ontology Report" then click "Save" This will template your devices, which can be used for dashboards, events, and various other features offered by the platform.
