Buildings

KODE OS’s Launchpad enables you to manage the buildings in your portfolio. You can add buildings, edit the details of those buildings, and quickly search for a building.

Add a building

To add a building,

  1. In Launchpad, select Buildings. The Buildings List appears, displaying all of your published and unpublished buildings, including their address, time zone, and enabled products.

  2. Select the + Add Building button. The Add Building page appears.

  1. Fill in the required fields and other information. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

    • Building Name*

    • Year Constructed

    • Area ft²*

    • Type*  (Office, Industrial, Retail, etc.)

    • Number of Floors

    • Address*

    • Base Temperature*

    • Temperature Unit*

  2. Click Save

Notes

The building is automatically set to Unpublished which means that only Super Admin roles can see it (according to the default permissions). After you have completed and are ready to turn the project over to the client, go to the Edit Building page and click Publish.

Edit the details of a building

Clients can edit the details of the buildings in their portfolio. 

To edit the details of a building,

  1. In the sidebar, click Buildings. The Buildings List appears, displaying the following information about each building: Name, Category, Address, Enabled Products, Time Zone, and Status (Published or Unpublished).

  2. Select a building from the list. The Building Details page appears, displaying the products enabled for the building and the following information: Building Name, Year Constructed, Area ft², Category, Number of Floors, Address, Timezone, and Temperature (°F or °C). 

  1. Click the Edit button. 

  1. Make the desired changes. 

  2. Click Save. The changes are saved and updated across the apps (KODE OS, myMSI, Launchpad).

Publish a building

Clients can publish a building in their portfolio. 

To publish a building,

  1. In the sidebar, select Buildings. The Buildings List appears, displaying the following information about each building: Name, Category, Address, Enabled Products, Time Zone, and Status (Published or Unpublished).

  2. Select an Unpublished building from the list. The Building Details page appears, displaying the products enabled for the building and the following information: Building Name, Year Constructed, Area ft², Category, Number of Floors, Address, Timezone, and Temperature (°F or °C). 

  1. Click the Publish button in the upper-right of the page. A confirmation pop-up window appears.

  1. Click Yes, Publish. (Click Cancel to cancel the operation.)
    The building’s status is changed to Published and all of its related data is now available on the platform.

Search for buildings

To search for buildings,

  1. In the Client Launchpad, click Buildings. The Buildings List appears.

  1. In the Search field, type the name of the building you are looking for.

  2. Once the results are narrowed, you can click on the building to view its details.

Assign a building to a user

To assign a building to a user,

  1. In the Portfolio view, select Settings > Buildings. The buildings list appears. 

  2. Select the building you want to assign to a user. The Details page for the building appears.

  1. Click the Users tab. The list of users assigned to the building appears.

  1. Click + Assign Users. The Assign Users pop-up window appears. 

  1. Select the user from the list. (You can select more than one user at a time.)

  2. Click Save. The building is assigned to the user.
